Taking creative, modern documentary style photographs at weddings is what I do best, and I think that Carly & Stephen’s wedding photographs showcase my style pretty well! We started the day at Carly’s house with her lovely daughter and bridesmaids getting ready. Everyone was in a great mood and having a giggle, (one thing I love about my job – everyone’s in a great mood, most of the time!!), and I took loads of photographs which have a really documentary, photojournalist feel to them. The ceremony was held at St.Mary’s church in Sileby, Loughborough, Leicestershire, a big church located right in the center of Sileby village. By the time we arrived at the church, however, the notorious British rain had well and truly kicked in. For a photographer, this is great – the rainy pavements shimmer beautifully! For the bride, not so good. Carly, however, was not one to let such a thing get her down, and totally rocked a glamorous departure from her vintage Roll Royce, umbrella at the ready and hair & make up intact!
The couple seemed completely in love throughout the wedding ceremony (the the rest of the day too!), which had some really tender moments which were touching to watch. I enjoyed looking for interesting photo-angles to get some creative photos, which were easy to find in a church with so many interesting features. The reception was held at Whatton House and Gardens, Loughborough, Leicestershire, which boasts beautiful gardens with huge trees and views of rolling fields. The rain had given us a moment of respite so we took some great wedding photographs of Carly and Stephen together underneath the trees. Inside the marquee, which featured rustic hay bales and gorgeous decor, I took loads of creative, documentary wedding photographs of guests enjoying themselves and kids generally being silly. Sadly the rain had started again, but Carly was undeterred and we ventured out with an umbrella to take some quirky shots in the rain. I admired Carly’s dedication to getting the end result she wanted from her wedding photography, and the shots look great for her determination!! 😀
